I use this for my son's homework time — the red disk slowly disappears, so he can actually see how much time is left. The beep at the end isn't too jarring either.
The visual wedge shrinking down is way easier for my students to grasp than a digital countdown. I use it for silent reading blocks and the auditory chime at the end is loud enough without being jarring. Battery's still going strong after a month of daily use.
My kid finally stopped asking "how much longer" during homework once we set this on the desk. The visual dial shrinking down is way easier for him to grasp than a digital clock, and the beep is loud enough to hear from the kitchen.
